Academic Council

The Academic Council shall chiefly focus on all the educational matters of the college, including teaching staff, academic strategy, instructional concerns, students, extracurricular activities, dormitories, and conduct, among other things. It is the duty of the Academic Council to strive and guarantee the adoption of best practices and the uplift of standards.

Functions & Responsibilities:


  • Curriculum Development: The Academic Council is responsible for formulating, reviewing, and revising the curriculum and syllabi of undergraduate and diploma programs in line with current industry trends and academic standards.
  • Approval of Curriculum: It ensures that the curriculum meets the necessary academic, professional, and regulatory standards, including the requirements set by bodies like AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), and JUT, Ranchi.
  • Academic Regulations: The council lays down academic policies, rules, and regulations for various academic programs, including grading systems, attendance policies, eligibility criteria, and other academic conduct matters.
  • Quality Assurance: It ensures that the academic policies are aligned with national and international standards to maintain the quality of education.
  • Grading and Assessment: It oversees the grading system, ensuring fairness and transparency in the evaluation process.
  • Academic Calendar: The Academic Council approves the academic calendar, including semester dates, examination schedules, holidays, and other important academic events.
  • Timely Execution: It ensures the smooth execution of the academic activities throughout the year in alignment with the approved calendar.
  • Organizing: Academic council organize teaching resources to complete academic programs.
  • Training Programs: It may recommend or organize faculty development programs to improve teaching quality, research capabilities, and overall academic performance.
  • Advising the Governing Council for the assignment of degrees and other academic honors.
  • Overseeing the operation of the college's Central Library.
  • Partnering with other academic institutions and industry.
  • Establishing a supportive environment to foster entrepreneurship.
  • Student Support Systems: The council can oversee student support services like counseling, mentoring, and academic advising to enhance student learning and well-being.
  • Improvement Plans: It evaluates student performance, identifies academic weaknesses, and works on corrective measures like remedial courses or workshops.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the co-curricular activities for students.
  • Recognizing students through awards, stipends, scholarships, medals, and prizes.
  • Forming committees from the college’s teaching staff and external experts to address and advise on specific academic issues, and subsequently acting on the recommendations after careful consideration.
  • Regular Review: The Academic Council regularly reviews and monitors academic standards through feedback from students, faculty, and industry to ensure the institution maintains high-quality education.
  • Academic Audits: It may also carry out audits or self-assessments to ensure academic activities are in line with institutional goals and external standards.
  • Establishing a review committee periodically to assess all academic activities within the institute, including curricula, academic rules, and regulations, and acting on its recommendations after thorough review.
  • Addressing Academic Issues: The council may address academic concerns raised by students, such as issues related to curriculum, teaching quality, or examination procedures.
  • Planning and implementing the overall academic development of the college, including evaluating progress, and finally presenting recommendations to the Governing Council, as necessary.
